GEBEL KAMIL
Iron Meteorite, Ungrouped (UNGR)
Gebel Kamil is the most exciting iron meteorite discovery in many years and these remarkable fragments, steeped in a natural bronze patina, have instantly become a favorite of the Aerolite Meteorites team. A crater, approximately 45 meters in diameter, was discovered in the Uweinat Desert in Egypt in 2009. These specimens were found near the crater and display a unique surface texture, reminiscent of lizard skin, and are similar in appearance to Sikhote-Alin, but with the added allure of the rich desert patina. A must-have for the collector!

GIBEON
Iron Meteorite (IVA)
The Gibeon iron, from the Namib Desert, has long been a favorite of collectors because of its sculpted appearance, stability, attractive etch pattern, and lovely, rich desert patina. Some years ago, Gibeon meteorites were relatively common in the marketplace, but a ban on hunting and export from Namibia has made these excellent irons almost impossible to obtain. I acquired most of these great specimens from a colleague who had kept some quality specimens in storage. I picked these particular pieces because of their excellent shapes. These Gibeons make outstanding display pieces and are sure to increase in value as the supply continues to diminish.

HENBURY
Iron Meteorite (IIIAB)
The Henbury iron was discovered in 1931 and is associated with twelve impact craters in central Australia; the largest is pictured at left. Henbury irons display one of the best desert patinas of any meteorite — a reddish-crimson color slowly acquired over hundreds of years. The crater field is now a protected area and meteorite hunting is no longer allowed. As a result Henburys have all but disappeared from the marketplace and these are my last specimens of any size.

MORASKO
Iron Meteorite (IAB-MG)
This gorgeous meteorite found near Poznan, Poland was first discovered in 1914 by a German soldier digging a trench during World War I. Further investigation showed the meteorite was associated with a field of seven distinct craters, the largest of which is about 100 meters across and 11 meters deep. The crater field was incorporated into a nature reserve in 1976 and hunting is now prohibited. The spectacular location—shrouded by an ancient forest—was featured in Meteorite Men Season Three, Episode One, when Aerolite Meteorites owner and his hunting partner, Steve Arnold, were granted unprecedented access to the protected Morasko site. Specimens of Morasko are extremely difficult to acquire and we are delighted to offer these outstanding examples.

A remarkable Australian iron, Mundrabillas are known for their unusual zoomorphic shapes, many of which seem to resemble animals or modern sculptures. Mundrabilla is a medium octahedrite with an attractive etch pattern. It is found in a very remote area of Western Australia. All specimens are as-found, with an orange/ochre patina. SEYMCHAN
Siderites from the pallasite strewnfield
Originally classified as an iron (IIE), new Seymchan finds have produced fabulous pallasitic material, and the meteorite was recently reclassified as a pallasite. I acquired this material directly from a colleague in Russia, and am therefore able to offer it at a very reasonable price. Many specimens are transitional in nature, in that they exhibit characteristics of both irons and stony-irons within the same slice. Examples in this section are from the pallasite fall, but are entirely iron in composition.

SIKHOTE-ALIN (INDIVIDUALS)
Iron Meteorite (IIAB)
As a collector and enthusiast, Sikhote-Alin is easily my favorite meteorite. The Sikhote-Alin shower of 1947 took place in a remote area of eastern Russia and was the largest single meteoritic event documented in modern times. It is an extremely rare witnessed fall iron, and many individuals display the classic characteristics of meteorites: regmaglypts, orientation, rollover lips, and even impact pits from in-flight collisions with other meteorites! Sikhote-Alin is an extremely stable and affordable meteorite. Once relatively available in the marketplace, intensive hunting at the fall site has resulted in the area being completely hunted out, and no new specimens now make it into collectors' hands. What we have now is what we have.

SIKHOTE-ALIN (SHRAPNEL)
Iron Meteorite (IIAB)
These exciting specimens are from the same fall, but are known as shrapnel specimens. They broke due to atmospheric pressure and/or mid-air collisions, and possibly also explosive fragmentation upon impact. These pieces really show the power and fury of an iron meteorite fall: ripped and torn edges reminiscent of bomb shrapnel. These pieces are very rare — they have not been cleaned and still have their attractive, natural ochre patina.

TAZA (NWA 859)
Iron Meteorite (ungrouped) Plessitic octahedrite
A colleague of ours in Europe calls this gorgeous meteorite "The Princess of the Irons" and the title is well deserved. Found near the Moroccan town of Taza in 2001, this rare desert iron is an ungrouped (UNGR) plessitic octahedrite and is also known as Northwest Africa 859. Taza irons display a lovely caramel colored patina; many specimens retain some original blue-grey fusion crust, and many also show features of orientation. Although similar in appearance to Sikhote-Alin individuals, the Taza shower was tiny in comparison, with a total known weight of approximately 80 kg. The majority of Taza irons are very small — less than 20 grams. We handpicked these fabulous specimens from a shipment that came directly from Northwest Africa, and were lucky enough to acquire a few larger examples. One of our favorite meteorites!

Iron Meteorite (IAB-SLL) Coarse octahedrite
First discovered in 1776 in Mexico, Toluca is one of the world's oldest known meteorites. The Toluca strewnfield was also the site of meteorite pioneer H.H. Nininger's first great expedition, making it an historic and collectible iron on two counts.

URUACU
Iron Meteorite (IAB-MG)
Uruacu (pronounced "Oo - roo - ah - sue") is an interesting iron found in 1992 in Goais, Brazil. It has a low total known weight, and most specimens recovered were very large. Only a few modest-sized individuals were found. The entire strewnfield lies on private land and has been hunted exclusively by the owner over a period of many years, so we don't expect to see many more of these irons appear on the market. When cut and etched it displays an attractive coarse pattern, similar to Sikhote-Alin. These individuals are in as-found condition with natural yellowish-ochre patina.

WHITECOURT IMPORTANT NEW ACQUISTIONS
Iron Meteorite (IIIAB)
The identification of a new crater in northern Alberta, and its attendant shrapnel fragments in 2007, was one of the most significant meteorite discoveries in recent years. The area surrounding the crater is a national preserve and there is a $50,000 fine for removing meteorite fragments. Two episodes of Meteorite Men were filmed at Whitecourt, and these specimens from outside the preserve were found by one of my friends and hunting partners, and have been granted official export permits from the Canadian Government. An attractive color copy of that permit accompanies each of these specimens. Intensive hunting at Whitecourt by the experienced Canadian team means there are almost no pieces left to be found, and we are delighted to be able to offer a small number of these highly collectible crater-forming meteorites.
