TUCSON SHOW: MONNIG CATALOG PUBLICATION EVENT

In January, 2008, our sister company Stanegate Studios/Stanegate Press published the Oscar E. Monnig Meteorite Collection Catalog, written by our great friend Dr. Arthur Ehlmann, Curator of the Monnig Meteorite Gallery in Fort Worth Texas. Technical consultant was veteran meteorite dealer David New, and design, editing, and principal photography was handled by Aerolite owner Geoffrey Notkin.

We were thrilled that Mr. Monnig's god daughter was in attendance, and she was presented with a limited edition signed and numbered copy as a gift from Ehlmann and Notkin.

The Oscar Monnig Catalog is limited to 1,000 copies and is the definitive work on the great meteorite collector. Available directly from Aerolite. Learn more >>>

PBS DOCUMENTARY "WIRED SCIENCE" WINS!

Aerolite Meteorites owner Geoffrey Notkin and Steve Arnold were featured in a special science pilot for PBS, entitled Wired Science. The show was filmed in Kiowa County, Kansas in the fall of 2006 and premiered on PBS in January 2007.

Our segment opened the show, which was part of a competition between rival production companies to generate an intriguing new science show. We're delighted to report that our show was the winner, and Wired Science is now an ongoing series. Our Kansas meteorite hunting segment was re-cut and used again in the first episode of the actual series. Our sincere congratulations to host and Wired magazine editor Adam Rogers and his team.

FORT WORTH SCIENCE MUSEUM EXHIBIT

A 59-pound Brenham iron meteorite found by Steve Arnold and Geoff Notkin on October 25, 2005 was exhibited at the Noble Planetarium, part of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, in Fort Worth, Texas. The rare iron is part of the Aerolite Meteorites Collection and displays a remarkable animal-like form, which has earned it the nickname "Brenham Buffalo."

The Buffalo joined the Brenham Meteorite Company's world record pallasite, and other outstanding Brenham meteorite finds for a two-month free exhibit in the museum's rotunda.

TRAVEL CHANNEL DOCUMENTARY

Aerolite Meteorites owner Geoffrey Notkin was featured in a new documentary series about treasure hunters — The Best Places to find Cash & Treasures — which aired on the Travel Channel early in 2007. The show was filmed in mid-April on location in Kansas and New Mexico. The host of the new show is well-known TV personality Becky Worley. The director is Chris Leavell.

The Cash and Treasure episode on meteorite hunting included two segments. In the first, Becky, Geoff and a team of expert meteorite hunters (Sonny Clary, Ruben Garcia, Keith Jenkerson, and Mike Miller), scour the steep and ragged mountainsides of Glorieta, New Mexico for elusive siderites and pallasites. In the second segment, Becky and Geoff get down with their detectors and shovels in a couple of deep holes to help with the excavation of massive Brenham pallasites in Kiowa County, Kansas with friend and hunting partner Steve Arnold.

The production company reported that our meteorite show was the highest rated episode in the history of Cash & Treasures. It continues in regular rotation on the Travel Channel. Check your local listings. It's a fun show.
